A lot of exciting news and things happening at Arett right now. Here’s what’s happening now.

Troy Warehouse

Employee Garden!

Our Troy branch started an employee garden in 2023 using inventory that our vendors have told us to either donate or destroy due to damage or mis-ships, and plants that Bill Grody and his wife get from a local greenhouse.  When they have a slow day during May each year, Bill and some of the employees plant the garden to get it ready and all summer, the employees enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables with their lunch and take home for supper with their families.

Last year, the employee parking lot planted the garden with the help of Stephanie Burton, Mark Hess, Adam  Alsept, and Savannah Norris.  This year it was moved to the side lot where it gets more sunlight.  This year’s garden contains 10 kinds of tomatoes, 6 kinds of pepper plants, 2 types of cucumbers, zucchini, and yellow squash.  Thank you to Savannah Norris and James Vance for your help planting this year!

Per Bill Grody, “The garden helps the company with waste disposal and helps our employees feed their families.  I really enjoy doing this every year and I think the employees enjoy it too, especially the cherry tomatoes they snack on for lunch each year.”

New Process Improvement/Announcement

Both Bristol and Troy distribution centers recently installed new portable printers at the receiving and shipping docks.  These printers produce the labels used to track product through our distribution operation.  The use of these printers has reduced employee travel time and also has improved shipping accuracy.
