Arett 2023 Open House: The Pottery Zone
At our 2024 Next Level Open House Show, Arett created a space dedicated to pottery because we saw a need to express and educate. As consumer trends show a higher interest and demand for pottery, we knew that this was what our retailers needed to broaden their business offerings. Explore with us the importance of pottery and how it may impact you as a retailer.
Why Pottery?
Aesthetic Appeal: Pottery adds an aesthetic appeal to the garden and outdoor space, making a surrounding look more attractive and visually appealing. A variety of pottery designs and colors can enhance the outdoor space and garden plants.
Versatility: Pottery comes in various sizes, shapes, and colors, making it versatile and suitable for different outdoor spaces. Customers can use pottery to decorate patios, balconies, and decks, and it can also be used as a centerpiece or accent among garden beds.
Plant Health: Pottery can also benefit plant health as it provides a stable environment for plant roots to grow and thrive. Clay-based pottery, for example, offers excellent drainage, and airflow and prevents waterlogging of the soil, which can be detrimental to plant growth.
Personalization: Pottery allows customers to personalize their outdoor space and garden with unique designs and decorations. It can serve as a canvas for creativity, allowing customers to express their personalities and styles.
The Nature of Pottery
Durability: Pottery is long-lasting, can withstand different weather conditions and temperatures, and can remain intact for several years with proper care. This means that customers investing in pottery can use and enjoy it for an extended period, providing great value for their money.
Easy Maintenance: Pottery requires very little maintenance, making it an excellent choice for busy homeowners. Simply wiping away the dust and debris with a soft cloth is typically enough to keep it looking clean and vibrant.
Environmental Sustainability: Pottery is an eco-friendly option for outdoor décor as it is often made from natural materials such as clay, terracotta, and other earth-based materials. It can also be recycled or repurposed at the end of its life, reducing waste and promoting sustainability.
How Pottery Affects Retailers
Increase revenue: Selling pottery can help increase revenue for garden retailers as more customers look to incorporate it into their outdoor space. Pottery is often considered a luxury item for the garden and can be sold at a premium price point, which helps generate more revenue for retailers.
Upsell Opportunity: Pottery adds an upselling opportunity for garden retailers as it makes the perfect companion to plants and other garden accessories. Customers may initially visit a garden center to buy plants but may be interested in buying pottery to display their new purchase. By offering pottery, retailers can increase their sales by upselling to customers who may not have planned on buying a pot or container.
Customer Experience: Providing a diverse range of pottery options can enhance the shopping experience for customers. They can explore different styles and materials, and the tactile experience of interacting with the pots can be enjoyable.
