Lawrence Alexander Jr., oversees and is responsible for all culinary as well as front of the house catering operations for the Atlantic City Convention. Chef Alexander was a trainer and developer of many employees throughout his career, which includes Servsafe food handlers proctor/ instructor.
Background
Prior to working for this prestigious company, Chef Alexander held Chef positions with: Caesars Hotel Casino Atlantic City, NJ; Harrah’s Hotel Casino Atlantic City, NJ; the opening team for Borgata Hotel Casino Atlantic City, NJ; Table Mountain Casino Fresno, California; Hollywood Casino Joliet, IL; Wheeling Island Casino in Wheeling, WV. (Delaware North); Jake’s 58 Casino Hotel, Long Island Casino, (Delaware North); and Thompson Hospitality, Miami, FL.
Chef Alexander graduated from Atlantic City High School in NJ, then graduated from the Academy of the Culinary Arts of Mays Landing, NJ. He holds an Associate’s Degree as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Operations Management through the University of Phoenix. He is a member of the American Culinary Federation (National) and the Professional Chefs Association of South Jersey since 1991, where he has been awarded his Chef Certification CCC. (Certified Chef De Cuisine).
Awards and Achievements
Chef Alexander is known for his dedicated contributions to the community, receiving a Humanitarian Award for doing so. He has provided breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Day Break Catholic Charities, Poverello House, participated in a Chef’s Auction fundraiser to raise money for United Cerebral Palsy (Great Chefs Tasting) and the March of Dimes. He has been a motivational speaker for the youth at Washbourne University in Chicago, as well as for the American Academy of Culinary Arts at Pittsburg Technical College in Oakdale, PA. Chef Alexander continues to work in the Tri-State community, mentoring youth that have special needs and are in need of guidance. He has worked locally with the Food Bank of New Jersey Fundraiser assisting with the preparation and serving of 300,000 meals to raise money for the food bank to continue to serve those in the community in need of assistance.
He also received the Achievement of Excellence award as well as the cutting edge award and Presidential medallion through the American Culinary Federation (ACF). He served on the board for Chicago Chefs of Cuisine in Illinois as the corresponding secretary. He is also a board member of the Boys and Girls club of Illinois. Chef Alexander is currently on the Board for the American Culinary Federation for the Ethics Committee.
In 2015, Chef Alexander was inducted into the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and conducted an induction dinner for the Chaîne Pittsburg Chapter at the Wheeling Island Casino Hotel racetrack in 2016. He received a bronze medal in an ACF Culinary category K hot food competition in 2015. Winner of the Director’s Cut edge award Penn National Gaming. He is a member of the Disciples of Escoffier Society of Chicago as well.
Fun Facts: Chef Alexander resides in Egg Harbor Township, NJ and enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loves to DJ and plays bass guitar. Chef Alexander is also known for being on the hit show “ShowTime at the Apollo” series called Amateur Night at the Apollo in NY talent competition.
