Top 5 Social Media Tips for Garden Centers
Social media is a great tool to interact with your customers outside of your brick-and-mortar store. But it’s not always easy to understand how to optimize it for your business. Greensmith Marketing is here to share our top 5 social media tips for garden centers and any business in the lawn and garden industry.
1. Engage, Engage, Engage
Social media, first and foremost, is about interacting with your community! Respond to comments and messages regularly to keep your followers interested and grow customer loyalty. Too busy to do this every day? Schedule a time on your calendar once or twice a week so you don’t forget!
2. (Visual) Content is King
This phrase has been around for a while, but it’s still just as true. Social media relies heavily on visual input. No one wants to follow an Instagram account with boring or out-of-focus images. Even better than images – videos. The numbers are clear, people are far more likely to view and interact with video content than images alone.

3. The Art of the Giveaway
Social media promotions can be tricky. Giveaways are perfectly suited to social media and will keep your followers checking your page for updates. Giveaways also double as a great way to promote a new product or service. Maybe you just started doing custom container arrangements – give one away and gain exposure at the same time! Make sure to plan your giveaway using some of the steps in the article linked below – and then get posting.

4. Tag – You’re It
Did you know that a post with at least one hashtag averages 12.6% more engagement than one without any? Make sure you have a branded hashtag for your store that you use on every post. You can tell customers to follow your branded hashtag in addition to your profile and tell them to use your hashtag whenever they post about your store! Just remember, never use spaces, punctuation, or symbols in your hashtags – other than those rules, the world is your oyster!
