As Arett Sales celebrates a milestone anniversary, we’re also looking ahead—expanding our team, strengthening our presence across the country, and bringing the industry together for a very special Open House.
As we celebrate our 75th anniversary, we’re proud to look back on four generations of relationships, partnerships, and growth. But what makes this milestone especially exciting is what we’re building for the future.
Over the past several months, we’ve continued investing in our people, our customers, and our ability to serve independent retailers and regional chains across the country—particularly throughout the Western United States.
Building a Strong Presence in the West
Our expansion in the West began with the opening of our Fairfield, California distribution center in 2024, giving Arett a strong operational base to better serve retailers throughout the region.
This summer, we took another major step forward with the addition of Tom Medhurst as Executive Vice President – West.
Tom is certainly no stranger to the lawn and garden industry—or to many of us at Arett. As the former President and CEO of L&L Nursery Supply, he brings decades of industry experience, strong retailer and vendor relationships, and a deep understanding of the independent channel.
Even more importantly, the relationship between Tom and the Chesbrough family goes back a generation. That history makes his joining Arett feel less like the beginning of a new relationship and more like the next chapter of a longstanding one.
Tom is leading our Western operations with a focus on sales growth, customer and vendor partnerships, operational coordination, and building the team and infrastructure needed to support Arett’s long-term growth throughout the region.
Joining Tom is another familiar and highly respected industry leader, Jackie Giuntoli, Vice President of Key Account Sales – West.
Jackie brings more than 30 years of lawn and garden leadership experience, including roles with Central Garden & Pet, L&L Nursery Supply, and BFG Supply. She will lead our key account growth throughout the Western United States, working closely with retailers and manufacturer partners to strengthen existing relationships and develop new opportunities.
Furthermore, we recently welcomed Jill Brown and Greg Menke as Key Account Managers, Annette Dhaenens as Key Account Advisor, and Doug Speegle as Director of Independent Sales – West.
Jill, Greg, and Annette will work closely with Jackie to support key retail accounts, while Doug will lead our independent retail channel throughout the Western United States and work with Tom to continue building Arett’s territory sales organization.
Collectively, this is an experienced group of industry professionals who understand our customers, our manufacturers, and—most importantly—the value of strong, long-term relationships.
Strong, long-term relationships always been a core value to Arett Sales, and it will remain at the center of how we grow.
Building Connections from Coast to Coast
The growth of our Western team comes at an important time for Arett as we prepare to bring customers, manufacturer partners, and our expanded sales organization together at the 2026 Arett Sales Open House, September 16–17 in Atlantic City.
As we celebrate our 75th anniversary, the combination of our continued Western expansion and Open House reflects where Arett is headed: growing our national reach while continuing to build the personal industry relationships that have been at the center of our business since 1951.
We look forward to welcoming our growing Western customer base and team to Atlantic City this September.
Celebrating the Past. Investing in What’s Next.
Since 1951, Arett has grown from a small, localized family business in New Rochelle, NY into a national distributor serving independent retailers and regional chains across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and West Coast.
A lot has changed in 75 years. Our footprint is larger. Our capabilities have expanded. Our assortment has grown. And today, our family of businesses includes Greensmith Marketing, Good Tidings Holiday Merchandise, Good Prod Professional Horticulture, and Terra Verde private brands.
We’re still a fourth-generation family-owned company. We still believe relationships matter. We still believe strongly in the independent retail channel. And we still believe our success comes from helping our customers and manufacturer partners succeed.
That’s why 2026 isn’t simply about looking back at 75 years.
It’s about building on them.
We’re strengthening our team, expanding our reach, investing in new opportunities, and continuing to build an Arett that can serve this industry for generations to come.
And this September, we hope you’ll join us in Atlantic City as we celebrate where we’ve been—and everything that’s ahead.
