Meet Blake Barry

Q: Reflecting on your knowledge of and experience in the lawn and garden industry, what do you feel you would bring to the Arett team?

A: I have an appreciation and understanding of the unique characteristics it takes to be sales representative on a day in and day out basis. As a freshly minted college graduate, I began my career as a high-end, color blind carpet sales representative selling and dispensing fashion advice to interior designers – plenty of stories I could share here! [Throughout my career, I held positions] as Territory Manager, Field Sales Trainer and National Sales Manager in the Pet and L&G industries. Most recently, [I was] a Brand Manager for Laguna USA where I was responsible for sales, marketing, product development and pricing. With this combined experience, I can be a resource and connection for our customers, sales representatives and vendors as part of the Arett management team.

Q: How did you get started in the lawn and garden industry?

A: I guess you could say the lawn and garden industry has always been in my blood. My brother and I started our own landscape business in Texas when we were in high school and it continued through the summers in college. I began the early part of my career in the pet industry, so it was only natural to transition back into the lawn and garden industry where I brought Arett on board as a distributor. Now to come full circle, what better way to put the cherry on the top than to actually come and work for Arett Sales!

Q: What is your greatest accomplishment?

A: Being married to my high school sweetheart for over thirty years and still talking to one another! And together raising four happy, healthy, well adjusted kids – who are all out of the house making a life for themselves – and as a result out of our checkbook!

Q: Tell me about your athletic history and what you learned from team sports.

A: [I was] a high school football, basketball and baseball player in Texas and [went] on to the state semifinals in both football and baseball. Then [I continued] my career as a college football player. I think there is no greater satisfaction […] than celebrating the wins with your teammates after all the [work], blood, sweat and tears that went into it.

Meet Peyton Chane

Q: Reflecting on your knowledge of and experience in the lawn and garden industry, what do you feel you would bring to the Arett team?

A: [I have] 15 years of experience getting national accounts to value working with companies like Arett. [I am] skilled in selling Consumer Packaged Goods, or CPGs, in alternate channels such as, specialty, retail, auto, hardware, office and transportation. [I am also] accomplished in reading and mentoring people.

Q: What do you personally enjoy about the lawn, garden, and holiday industries?

A: [I] love outdoor seasonal decorating and the family quest for the perfect Christmas tree. We cut [one] down and bring [it] home to begin the holiday season. Each winter [I] construct a 60 x 200 foot skating rink in my backyard. It’s the center of outdoor family activities in winter! [I also] designed and built a backyard fire pit and designed the landscape design for our property to guide planting decisions.

Q: What is your greatest accomplishment?

A: My beautiful wife and three kids.  Outside of my family, I am most proud of achieving my goal of starting for two, top 10 Division I lacrosse programs and graduating.

Q: Tell me about your athletic history and what you learned from team sports.

A: [In high school,] I was on the First Team All American in lacrosse and my lacrosse and hockey teams were in the state championships. [I got] a full ride to University of North Carolina and Towson University to play lacrosse. After college I played semi-professional lacrosse in Australia and coached for Stevenson University. [Sports taught me] passion, commitment, and teamwork.
